DER CHI
LIN
about.
Hello! If you're here, you're probably interested to see what else I do besides work.
Good news/bad news, I'm mostly enjoying tinkering without any bureaucratic overhead. Other than that, you'll find me exploring new places, learning new things, baking bread, or playing some sort of sport.
Outside of my work in mechanical engineering, I love tinkering with all things electronics. You can find me sticking sensors on random things, writing bots to reserve tennis courts, or fiddling around with my Homelab cluster of decommissioned Lenovo Thinkcentre Tiny's.
This is a little control box to connect a 12V LED strip to my smart home server and add a capacitive touch switch. Not much cheaper to DIY, but a whole lot more fun.

You'll find me playing tennis in the summer or skiing with whatever vertical I can find within a 6 hour drive of Chicago. If I'm going to live in a freezer for half the year, I might as well enjoy it.
I've never seen so much snow in my life and it's the happiest I've been to be so cold.
While I'm originally from LA, I spent my summers in Taiwan, participated in an exchange year in Germany through CBYX (Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange), moved to Boston for university, and am currently living in the Chicago suburbs. There's a lot of different ways to approach the world that I've incorporated into my life.
